Sue the Sayer

This character was suggested by my dear friend Philipp Bormann, to expand the cast of the Freakshow characters; the idea here was to make another particular performer, the Soothsayer, into a fresh new addition to the series.
I really liked Philipp's idea, with the crystal ball, the tarots and everything, with her being capable of altering the course of events due to her terrific power, although this may need to be further refined for plot purposes.
Since the beginning, I pictured her as a young girl, because everytime I think of a soothsayer, the very first picture that comes to mind is that of a very old lady, so I wanted to get away from that idea and go for something a bit more different; one of the main references I used was Viola from Soul Calibur 5, so after a few silhouette sketches I came up with this little girl sitting on top of a big crystal ball, with giant hands made out of the wax of the candles around, floating above her.
During the design process, her backstory also formed in my brain as I was going... This is where things will get dark.
The emotions of people, everything they feel during the shows, is what keep the wheel going for all Freaks, the magic that the show is made of feeds on them... but there's something more than that. A secret that White Phantom holds very well, a secret that lays hidden in the deep dark of the FreakShow, something he swore to protect at all costs, the real reason behind all of his actions... his daughter.
Before Blue Heart, the Phantom was married to another woman, who was born with a rare disease that kept getting worse day by day, until the unexpected and shocking birth of Sue: the woman was already too weakened and sickened to withstand pregnancy, and when she finally gave birth, the sighting of the little Sue put a brake on her heart. The little girl was in fact born with no arms, and had to grow in an unforgiving world, where every diversity was condamned... Her father tried to protect her the best he could from the cruelty of men, but it couldn't last: one night, they were chased by a group of people, trapped in an alley, the little Sue was scared as hell while her father was fighting alone against those men, in a desperate attempt to keep her safe, but he was still a simple human back then... He ultimately fell on the ground, and when he woke up a few hours later, without his right eye and severed hands, the first thing he saw was her daughter's face, disfigured, no right eye, just as him... He wasn't able to keep her safe, her precious daughter was the only thing that he had left in that madness of a world, and so he swore an oath of vengeance: "This world is mad, afraid of what it doeasn't understand, afraid of what is different... we never wanted to be like this, it's not our fault if WE are like this! The only real freaks out there... Are THEM! They want a show? They want something to see? Something to be really afraid of? I will give them the greatest show no man has ever seen before... THEY are the real freaks... it's just that they don't know it yet."
Every emotion consumed by the show, also serves as a way to keep Sue alive: that's why she can't really get too far away from her giant crystal ball, hidden where only her father, White Phantom, knows. Or maybe... not?
Sue the Sayer is capable to control the events, using her flames and candles to see in the dark of future, the story depends on her... What if she was part of Black Rabbit's plan all along?
Or maybe, the show itself was HER plan?
